Devolver Digital and the Free Lives team have announced the release date for Terra Nil, a planetary recovery simulation. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer. The team also shared that they intend to donate part of their earnings to the Endangered Wildlife Trust, a rare animal protection fund.
In Terra Nil, you have to bring life back to the dead wasteland. To do this, the player has a lot of gadgets and structures – they will help restore soil fertility, plant grass and forests, recreate reservoirs and rivers, and also breed animals. The arsenal has about 50 buildings. Harvested several regions – tropical, forest, polar and urban – each of which has its own biomes. As soon as the work is completed, it is necessary to collect the tools and get out.
There is no plot or any context to what is happening in the simulator. As conceived by the author of the strategy Sam Alfred (Sam Alfred), gamers just do what they have to. “We wanted to release the project so that people can talk about it and come to the conclusions that they like,” Alfred explained. In his opinion, Terra Nil is a game about healing, which reduces users’ concerns about the state of the climate.
The creator of Terra Nil said that gamers met the game much better than the team expected. Initially, Free Lives was only going to re-release the eponymous pixel “demo”, which Sam released back in 2019. However, due to increased interest, the studio decided to scale up the project.
The pre-order is already open: upon its registration, the game will automatically and free of charge be upgraded to the Deluxe edition. It includes a soundtrack by Meydän and a digital artbook. The latter contains concepts of buildings, enlarged texture drawings and other images that appeared during the development process.
The greening of the planet will begin in Terra Nil in a month – on March 28th. The project will be registered on PC (Steam, GOG) and on iOS with Android through the Netflix service.
